Day 1 - January 19, 2018

dtYerevan… rose-colored capital even during winter time…. most of its buildings is garnished with a pink shade of “tuf” stone which is quarried in Armenia. This is one very prominent feature of Yerevan being referred to as “Pink Yerevan…”. Let’s start by getting acquainted with the city of Yerevan by walking through the history of Armenia in the Erebouni museum and Fortress which was founded in 782 B.C., 29 years before Rome, the “Eternal City”, was built. We continue our day with a visit to Tsitsernakaberd memorial and museum to the 1915 Genocide, one of the most impressive monuments in Yerevan.

Day 3 - January 21, 2018

tyuToday we embark on our journey to the land of ancient treasures of Christian history. Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin (UNESCO).  It’s the “religious capital” of the country and the seat of the Supreme Patriarch-Catholics of all Armenians. It has 4 main churches, including the Cathedral. Built in 303AD, the cathedral is a masterpiece of Armenian classical architecture and considered to be one of the world’s earliest Christian churches. Admire Hripsime and Gayane Churches (7th c) named after faithful virgins of the 3rd c.

Return Yerevan and visit to Matenadaran:  institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan, is one of the richest depositories of manuscripts and books in the world.

Trip to Tsakhkadzor – “Valley of Flowers”

1321184947-69You will spend three unforgettable days in the relaxing Wintery Wonderland in the town of Tsaghkadzor.

Tsaghkadzor is surrounded by forests on the eastern slope of Mt. Tsaghkuniats. Located in one of the most beautiful areas of the country, the town is famous for its numerous resorts. Its once pristine hunting grounds for the rulers of Armenia are now important for its modern touristic areas, ski runs and winter rest with a number of rest houses, hotels, motels and camps.

Day 5 - January 23, 2018

ipTsakhkadzor – In the winter, all eyes are on Tsaghkadzor since it is the only ski center in Armenia. There are excellent conditions for off-piste skiing and snowboarding especially on the Teghenis Mountain, for which you can use Chair Lift. So get ready your winter sports clothing: goggles, gloves, warm hat, etc. to enjoy your winter holidays here. By the way, it is not a problem to rent all skiing, skating and snowboarding equipment in this town. In the evening, there is a number of entertainment and activities for you; bars and lounges, billiard and table tennis, bowling, pools & saunas, etc.

– You will have a chance to visit Kecharis Monastery – the 11th-13th cc monastery which was a major learning center in medieval Armenia.

On the way we will visit Garni the rare pre-Christian pagan monument maintained in Armenia; wonderful canyon of Garni, where you can see magnificent sheer vertical cliffs, which look manmade; Geghard (UNESCO) Cave monastery architectural complex in the 12-13th century, cut in one monolithic rock;

Day 7 - January 25, 2018

sarnews-14-08-12-1Khor Virap Monastery – nestled in the valley is this Monastery where the beginning of the History of the Christian nation in Armenia, magnificently set against the towering slopes of the Biblical Mountain of Ararat. It is the site where St. Gregory the Illuminator was incarcerated and is a pilgrimage destination for all believers. It is especially a time to reflect upon the work of our Church’s patron saint, Gregory the Illuminator, who spread the light of Christ in Armenia and inspired King Trdat to proclaim Christianity as state religion in 301, which has had a determinate impact on the Armenian  people and their history.

“NOY” ARARAT Brandy, Wine Factory:  “…one does not drink brandy, one derives pleasure from it.” Just let’s do it in one of the oldies factories in “NOY” Yerevan Brandy factory.
